I've never been able to stay friends with an ex and I currently broke up with an ex but we've been on good terms. Did you ever stayed friends with an ex? Maybe even become his best friend? How did that turn out ? Cause I'm scared it will just ruin our friendship too. 

I have been friends with one of my exes, our friendship was really strong although we eventually drifted apart when our lives pretty much got in the way. You really have to wait until you both are fully moved on past the relationship and that both of you have no expectations from each other except to be friends and be there for each other. Everything depends you and them and their situation, i hope everything goes well<3
